REFLECTION TASKS

TASK NUMBER 1

Emotional Self-management

Firstly, I think it is important to hide light that I am not a very bad temper girl. But many times when people are not agreeing with me, I find this annoying.
Nevertheless, i believe that most of the time, the way I react depends on who is the person contradicts me and also, it depends on the subject of the discussion. I mean, if the person is someone who i don't like too much, o their attitude is rude, I get angry, even though I listen carefully their arguments.
On the other hand, if it is about a subject that I know too much and I am strongly sure about my thoughts, I defend them, but I try to pay attention to the other person. I am always willing to listen, almost most of the time.

Finally, i find necessary to tell that I never argue, and when the talk starts to be difficult, I try to keep my patience, and then I wait, and try to drive things calmly. If things do not work, I keep quiet.

Analysing: SHOULD CHIMPANZEES BE CONSIDERED ‘PERSONS’?

SHOULD CHIMPANZEES BE CONSIDERED ‘PERSONS’? v   Whose viewpoint is expressed? In this opinion article the writer is expressing their frustration for trying to help two chimpanzees which are in captivity. He is claiming the freedom to Kiko and Tommy (the chimpanzees), and what he wants is to help them, but the United States law don’t want to help because they consider animals as a thing, and laws claim for the protection of a person not a thing. His viewpoint is that chimpanzees are not only a “thing” they are more than that. They have all of the features that a human seem as a person has: conscious experience, emotionality, a sense of self or bonds of care or interdependence.   v   What does the author want us to think? He wants us to reflect about considering chimpanzees just as a thing. As he said, Kiko and Tommy as well as humans have are capable of communicating through language (in their case signal language), they fell, and they have emotions, and s...

Michael Sandel: What Money Can't Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets

REFLECTION  How does Michael Sandel support the thesis that "over the past three decades we have drifted from having a market economy to becoming a market society?" He defined a market economy as “a tool, a valuable and effective tool for organizing productive activity”. Its means having a balance economy. But a Market society  as Sandel said “it’s a way of life where market values and market thinking reach in two spheres of life previously governed by other values” It means that everything it is a society where just about everything is up for sale, everybody wants to buy everything. What sorts of arguments are offered for and against the assumed proposal of paying young children two dollars for every book they read? Against: The first one is that students just for getting the money will read “stupid books”, they will read bad books which are not going to help them. Another important one, and for me, the strongest one, was about d eveloping passion and love...
