On this video Stephen said too much interesting things, he talked about how he has developed Critical and creative thinking on his students.
There were some aspects I found interesting about his teaching practice. He said that his teaching practice was affected for his role as a child student. He said that beeing a bad student helped him to understand the role of the teacher he wanted to be, because he wanted a teacher in who believe, someone closer, that’s why he tries to be a reliable teacher for his students.
About critical thinking he said that he is aware of the assumptions that frame the way he thinks, and how he takes life decisions. “Critical thinking is to prepare you to take more informed actions”. Moreover, he states that someone who thinks creatively is able to view ideas and practices from multiple viewpoints.
Something interesting was how he said that he treat his depression, how at the beginning he had a narrow mind, he used to think that if he used antidepressants was because he was weak, “just weak people use them”, but after, he realized that he was wrong, because it was something to treat his disease, and moreover, he started to think on avoiding those things that could make him feels bad.
Finally, he talked about some strategies for implementing critical and creative thinking in classrooms, one of them were circle of five voices, chalk talk, presentation, and so on. All of those have in common the way students have to critical criticize the other person talk.
